Library Card Applications

Due to the COVID-19 corona virus , the library is closed for the purpose of obtaining a library card and accessing our print and media collections.

Our digital collections are still available and can be accessed with your TPL card.

If you DO NOT have a TPL card and you are a resident or employee of the Town of Tewksbury, we will temporarily waive the in-person requirement to show ID and proof of residency. After you complete one of the ways to apply for a library card, we will email you a copy of your library card number and PIN. You can start using the card immediately to access our online collections.  The e-Library card is temporary and will expire in 90 days. You may come in anytime when we re-open to make your e-Library card a permanent library card.

Please Note: In order to provide fair access to our resources, there may be limits placed on the quanitity or duration of use depending upon the contract we have with our online vendors. Thank you for your understanding.

Here are the ways you can obtain a library card as of 3/19/2020:

  • Email us at info@tewksburypl.org with the following information: Full Name, Street Address, Town, Daytime or Evening Phone Number, Email Address and Birthdate.

  • Please complete this web form

  • Call the Library at 978-640-4490, ext. 202 and we will take your information over the phone. Please leave a message if we cannot answer; we will return your call.

Thank for your support of the TPL as we adjust our services during this unusual situation.

Tewksbury Public Library services are available to anyone who enters the building; a valid library card or identification is required to take materials out of the building. For the fastest service, an individual should present his or her own library card each time materials are checked out. If the individual forgets to bring his or her library card, the individual can present government-issued photo identification in lieu of the library card. Lost, misplaced or stolen library cards will be replaced at a cost of $1 each time. Each library card holder must comply with any borrowing restrictions linked to his or her card. Residents of other Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC) libraries must present a current, valid library card or identification from their hometown library. {Please see our Library Card Policy for complete details about acquiring and using a TPL Library Card.}

Print and fill out our Library Card Application Form (para español, haga clic aquí) and bring it to the Tewksbury Public Library with identification showing your name and current address. Children under 14 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian when applying for a library card.

The Tewksbury Library is a member of the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC), which is made up of 35 libraries in Massachusetts' Merrimack Valley.
