Expanded hours beginning on July 6th!
The Tewksbury Public Library is not yet open for browsing, but our Curbside Pick Up will allow you to still use our physical materials to read, watch or play.
2) We’ll notify you when your items are ready for contactless pickup. You will be able to make an appointment to pick up your items on a specific day and time.
How do I place an order?
If you know specific titles or subjects that you’d like, you can simply login to the library’s catalog online and make a request. When your items are available, we will notify you to come pick them up. An important thing to know: Statewide delivery service (ILL) among libraries has not been restored, so we are only able to loan you what is in the Tewksbury Public Library. When you are searching in the catalog, it will default to show you only the Tewksbury collection.
Hint: To get items even faster, you can also click the “Only Show Available” button, which will display items that are currently checked in at our library, and reduce some of the turnaround time in filling your order.
Click here to see a short video on how to place a hold in the catalog. If you need more help placing holds, or would prefer to have a staff member assist you – no problem! We have staff ready to help over the phone. Call us at 978-640-4490 and choose the department you'd like from the menu. Please be patient! We may be busy as we roll out this service. You can also email anyone on our staff with your questions.
What Are Your Hours for the Curbside Pick Up Service?
You may pick up confirmed orders only during the following times:
Monday through Wednesday, 10:00am until 7:00pm; Thursday and Friday, 10:00am until 3:00pm
30 minute appointments will be scheduled during these hours for pick up. (These hours may change in the future as we assess demand and community needs)
What if I Had Holds I Never Got to Pick Up?
If you had something waiting to be picked up when we closed in March, it’s still here! You will receive a notification when these items are ready to be picked up.
How Will I Be Notified?
When your items are ready we’ll contact you by the method you had set up previously (email or phone call). Questions about that method? Or need to change your information? Call our Circulation desk at 978-640-4490 x202
How Do I Make an Appointment for Curbside Pick Up?
Once you have been notified that your items are ready, you can schedule an appointment during our pick up hours. You will be able to schedule a 30 minute appointment window yourself via our online calendar OR you can call the Circulation desk at 978-640-4490 x202. Please remember only to schedule an appointment once you have been notified that your holds are ready for pick up.
How Will Curbside Pick Up Work?
You can pick up your items anytime during your 30 minute appointment window. When you arrive at the library, you should park your car in one of the parking spots. When you approach the front doors of the building, you will see a cart outside of them. Your items will be in a paper bag on the cart. The bag will be labeled with the last name of the person who requested the items. Please be sure to take only the bag with your name. If someone else is also picking up their items, please be sure to maintain physical distancing of at least 6 feet. Please do not otherwise touch the cart or other items on the cart. Also, do not park in the Fire Lane outside of the building as this is both unlawful and can block traffic.
What if I Miss My Curbside Pick Up Appointment?
If you cannot arrive during your scheduled time, please call the Circulation desk at 978-640-4490 x202 or email us at [email protected] We will work with you to reschedule your appointment.
How Do I Return My Items?
Our book and video drops are open. Please return your items when they are due. Staff will be bringing in items daily and quarantining them for 72 hours before they are checked in. Don’t be alarmed if they still appear in your account a few days after you return them (and remember, we no longer have late fines!). While the library is taking every precaution, there is still very limited data regarding COVID-19 and library books. Please use your own judgment when deciding whether to borrow library materials.
Can I Donate Books and Movies Now?
For everyone’s safety, we aren’t able to accept any donations of books or other physical materials at this time.
