Tewksbury History

Town of Tewksbury seal

The Library has a Local History Room with many books, photos and maps of interest to Tewksbury and the local area. Learn a little bit more about our Local History Room here.

The seminal book written about the history of Tewksbury is “Ask Now of the Days That Are Past:” A History of the Town of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, 1734-1964 by Harold Patten, published in 1965. You can check out a copy of this book at the library or access it in the Local History Room.

We created a simple presentation for students or others who are interested in a quick primer on early Tewksbury history called "Don't Know Much About the History of Tewksbury." Check out the video of the presentation below or on YouTube.

Check out Tewksbury Memorial High School yearbooks that have been digitized! The yearbook is called "Scroll."

The Library is happy to offer short tours of artifacts in the Local History Room. School groups, Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts, and other student groups interested should contact the Children's department at 978-640-4490 x204.
